  1. Good finally to catch up on a really good quality rendering of Lancelot Link and The Evolution Revolution's 'Sha-La Love You', after being rather more familiar with the song from Communist-Era Czechoslovakia that was based on that tune - Valérie Čižmárová's 'Dávno nejsem hloupá' (recorded 5th December 1970), so thanks for that Professor Bubblegum. It's nowhere to be seen on YouTube, for instance.

Valérie Čižmárová (or 'Valinka', as she is affectionately known) later did another 'Sha La La' song, BTW - a beautiful song with a tune dreamed up by an eighteen-year-old composer by the name of Zdeněk Němeček, called 'Malý princ' (recorded 9th July 1973) inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's 'Le petit Prince' - with the backing vocalists, Jezinky merrily Sha La La-ing and taking it up a notch towards the end.

Please find a link accompanying this message to my new page at my Blog, 'Bananas For Breakfast' - 'Valérie Čižmárová: A Life In Sound' so you can directly check out 'Dávno nejsem hloupá' and 'Malý princ'.

    1. Christopher,

Thanks for the note! I had no idea that there was a Czech pop song based on that Lancelot Link song! I’ll explore the link and see what else I can learn. Fascinating, thanks so much, and stay groovy!

    2. Mr Mayor!

You're welcome...and I've just banged off a more detailed E-Mail for your delectation...as well as the link appended to this message to 'Valérie Čižmárová: A Life In Pictures'. This star from the 'lost world' of Eastern Bloc Pop belongs in the here and now and I adore her with a passion you could not believe! She was a groovy chick, alright! Such a tragedy that she died at just 53 when on the comeback trail :-(
